Volbeat is a Danish rock band from Copenhagen, formed in 2001, known for its distinctive blend of heavy metal, rockabilly, punk, and classic rock. Founded by singer and guitarist Michael Poulsen after the breakup of his death metal band Dominus, Volbeat quickly built a unique sound based on heavy riffs, melodic hooks, and vocals reminiscent of Elvis Presley.
They achieved their breakthrough with the albums Rock the Rebel / Metal the Devil (2007) and Guitar Gangsters & Cadillac Blood (2008), gaining attention far beyond the Scandinavian scene. Their 2010 release Beyond Hell / Above Heaven established them as a leading European rock act, with hits like “Heaven Nor Hell” and “A Warrior’s Call.”
Volbeat are known for their high-energy live shows and were the first Danish band to sell out Parken Stadium in Copenhagen. Despite several lineup changes, they’ve remained true to their signature sound. In 2025, they released the album God of Angels Trust, once again fusing nostalgic influences with modern production, and launched a new world tour.
