Vatra is a Croatian rock band formed in 1999 in Virovitica, led by vocalist and songwriter Ivan Dečak. They are known for their melodic, emotionally charged rock sound, which often blends elements of pop and alternative rock, as well as for their energetic, communicative live performances. In addition to Dečak, the band’s lineup includes Robert Kelemen (guitar), Mario Robert Kasumović (bass), Damir Valček (drums), and Jakov Kolega (keyboards, saxophone).
They achieved their first major breakthrough with the album Između nas (2002), but gained wider recognition with singles such as Bilo je dobro dok je trajalo, Tango, Eskim, Nama se nikud ne žuri (a duet with Massimo Savić), and Rum na usnama. Their music combines optimism, romantic introspection, and radio-friendly appeal, making them a fixture on Croatian music charts.
In nearly a quarter of a century of activity, Vatra has established itself as one of the leading names in contemporary Croatian rock. They have received multiple Porin Awards – including Song of the Year in 2019 for Nama se nikud ne žuri – as well as numerous other accolades for their musical achievements. The band tours extensively across Croatia, Slovenia, and the wider region, frequently appearing at major festivals and headlining their own shows, where their direct communication and energetic performances create a strong bond with the audience.
