U2

U2 is an Irish rock band formed in 1976 in Dublin. The group consists of Bono (vocals), The Edge (guitar, keyboards), Adam Clayton (bass), and Larry Mullen Jr. (drums). Their sound evolved from post-punk into a distinctive style characterized by atmospheric guitar effects and socially conscious lyrics often addressing themes of love, faith, politics, and social justice. Among their greatest achievements are albums like The Joshua Tree (1987), which established them as global superstars, Achtung Baby (1991), which marked an experimental shift in their sound, and All That You Can't Leave Behind (2000), which saw a return to a more classic rock tone. The band has sold over 170 million records worldwide and won 22 Grammy Awards — the most by any band. In 2023, U2 became the first Irish artists to receive the prestigious Ivors Academy Fellowship for their outstanding contribution to music and songwriting. That same year, they launched the new Sphere venue in Las Vegas with a concert residency titled U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere, which ran until March 2024 and attracted over 660,000 attendees.
