Toto is an American rock band formed in 1977 in Los Angeles, known worldwide for their technically sophisticated music and unique blend of rock, pop, funk, jazz, and progressive elements. The band was originally composed of highly respected session musicians who had worked with major artists like Steely Dan, Boz Scaggs, and Michael Jackson before forming Toto. They reached peak fame with the release of their album "Toto IV" in 1982, which became a global success. The album features iconic songs like “Africa” and “Rosanna”, earning them six Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year. “Africa”, with its distinctive melody and lyrics, became one of the most recognizable songs of the 1980s and has seen a major revival in popular culture in recent years. To date, the band has released over 15 studio albums, sold more than 40 million records, and remains influential among both fans and musicians. Despite numerous lineup changes, the core of the band has remained strong, with key members including Steve Lukather (guitar, vocals), David Paich (keyboards), and Joseph Williams (vocals).
