START THE NEW YEAR WITH BIATHLON IN POKLJUKA
LaVita IBU Biathlon World Cup 2026/27 Pokljuka
1–3 January 2027 | Pokljuka and Bled
If you love sport, winter and the excitement of cheering from the stands, make Pokljuka your first stop in 2027.
For the first time on the International Biathlon Union (IBU) calendar, Pokljuka will host a World Cup over the New Year period. The first weekend in January promises something truly special: the world’s best biathletes, top-level competition and a spectacular setting in the heart of Triglav National Park, with a festive atmosphere and packed stands cheering on every competitor!
This is a weekend for everyone who wants to experience world-class sport live. Biathlon combines speed, split-second decisions, complete focus and a little luck – a mix that keeps every race unpredictable and gripping until the final shot. A single missed shot can shake up the standings, while a flawless performance can change the outcome in seconds. At Pokljuka, you can feel that tension right beside the course and shooting range as the world’s best biathletes and the Slovenian team compete. The home team returns after the unforgettable World Cup in March 2025, when Jakov Fak thrilled the crowd with a victory and Anamarija Lampič secured third place. This time, home fans can once again follow every shot, every arrival at the shooting range and every battle for precious seconds up close as Slovenia takes on the world’s best.
Saturday is all about the sprints, where every shot and every second count. Sunday brings the relays, one of biathlon’s most exciting disciplines, with national teams battling for the result and races often decided only on the final lap.
This New Year’s World Cup will extend beyond Pokljuka. Biathlon is also coming to Bled, where the lakeside promenade will become a second event hub as part of the Winter Fairytale festivities. Friday will feature the official opening ceremony and team presentations, followed on Saturday by the medal ceremony. A programme of activities will bring visitors even closer to the sport – from Biathlon for Everyone and laser rifle shooting to opportunities to meet the stars of biathlon.
If you’re a biathlon fan – or simply love great sport – you’ll want to be there! Once you’ve experienced biathlon live, you’ll never watch it in quite the same way again. The energy of the crowd, the tension at the shooting range and the battle for every second draw you right in. Biathlon becomes more than a sport on a screen – it becomes an unforgettable experience!
