Sunshine is a hip-hop/metal band from Belgrade, founded in 1993, led by the charismatic vocalist Branko Bojović, also known as Bane Sanšajn or Bane Grumbovski. The group originated from the underground hip-hop movement and quickly became known for its explosive fusion of genres, raw riffs, and socially conscious lyrics. This approach became a signature of their dynamic live performances and numerous cult songs.
In the band’s early formation, members of Green Kool Posse were involved, from which Sunshine gradually emerged. After Bojović’s experience in the U.S. in the 1980s, he returned to Belgrade, where they first worked on demo recordings, eventually releasing their debut album Ljubavna likvefakcija in 1995. The album introduced their signature sound—a blend of rap, hardcore punk, and provocative lyrical expression.
With their second album Sh.g.t.m. (1996), they solidified their style through sampling, synthetic backing tracks, and hard-hitting rhythms. The single "Misli mene gone" (1997) became a hit played on domestic top charts and marked a generation. Some of their most prominent tracks include Kokane (featuring the band Plejboj), Žaklina traži sponzora, Iza horizonta, and Marginalan type, often combining genre shifts and sharp critiques of societal issues.
In 2002, they released the stylistically diverse album Sha bilo, which mixes hip-hop with elements of drum and bass, violin, and brass. This was followed by the compilation album Fight the Devil (2007), the single "Nina nana!" (2011) for MTV Adria, Tebraxion (2013), and Da li sam (2025), which announces their long-awaited upcoming album Vortex.
