Prljavo Kazalište is one of Croatia’s most important rock bands, formed in 1977 in Zagreb’s Dubrava neighbourhood. The band began its musical journey under the influence of punk and new wave, later developing into a distinctive rock and pop-rock sound and becoming one of the most popular bands in the former Yugoslavia.
Their best-known hits include Crno-bijeli svijet, Heroj ulice, Marina, Mi plešemo, Kiše jesenje, Mojoj majci, Sve je lako kad si mlad, Ne zovi mama doktora, Tu noć kad si se udavala and Lupi petama. An important part of their history is the legendary concert on Zagreb’s main square in 1989, which became one of the most significant concert events in the history of the Croatian music scene.
Over the decades, Prljavo Kazalište has remained synonymous with Croatian rock, major hits and energetic concerts. Their music has shaped several generations of listeners, while many of their songs have become enduring classics of the regional rock scene.
