Plavi Orkestar is one of the most popular pop-rock bands to have shaped the music scene of the former Yugoslavia. The band was formed in Sarajevo in 1983, with vocalist and guitarist Saša Lošić – Loša at the forefront from the very beginning. By combining pop rock, folk rock, catchy melodies and distinctive lyrics, Plavi Orkestar became one of the biggest musical phenomena of its generation in the 1980s.
The band achieved its breakthrough with their 1985 debut album Soldatski bal, which featured the hits Suada, Bolje biti pijan nego star, Goodbye Teens, Odlazi nam raja and Kad mi kažeš, paša. This was followed by the albums Smrt fašizmu!, Sunce na prozoru and Simpatija, and later by Longplay, Infinity and Sedam. Other well-known songs include Sava tiho teče, Kaja, Lovac i košuta, Ljubi se istok i zapad, Od rođendana do rođendana and Ako su to samo bile laži.
Plavi Orkestar remains synonymous with nostalgic pop rock, major hits and concerts that bring together different generations of listeners. Their songs have become part of the musical heritage of the former Yugoslavia and still hold a special place among fans of regional music today.
