Pero Lovšin (born June 27, 1955, in Ljubljana) is a Slovenian musician, songwriter, and singer, known as a pioneer of punk rock in the former Yugoslavia. As a founding member and lead vocalist of the band Pankrti, formed in 1977, he laid the foundation of the Slovenian punk movement with songs like “Lublana je bulana” and “Totalna revolucija.”
After Pankrti disbanded, Lovšin founded the rock band Sokoli in the 1980s, combining rock, folk, and reggae influences. The band released several successful albums, including Marija pomagaj and Samo bog ve, becoming one of the leading Slovenian rock acts of the era.
In the 1990s, Lovšin began a solo career, collaborating with various musicians and experimenting with different genres. His discography includes albums such as Hiša nasprot sonca (1993), Dolina kraljic (1995), Izlet (2001), Tečaj romantike (2003), Hudičev sod (2010), Območje medveda (2017), and Zvezda park (2022).
Lovšin is also known for his international collaborations, including working with Ivan Král (Patti Smith, U2), and for opening for The Sex Pistols on their 1996 reunion tour. In 2000, he co-wrote the anthem for the Slovenian national football team for the UEFA European Championship alongside Vlado Kreslin and Zoran Predin, titled “Slovenija gre naprej”.
