Mitar Mirić (born January 16, 1957, in the village of Bogutovo Selo near Ugljevik, Bosnia and Herzegovina) is a renowned Bosnian-Serbian folk-pop singer who has been performing with remarkable emotional intensity since the mid-1970s. With his deep, warm voice and direct interpretation of themes such as love, nostalgia, and everyday life, he has won over a broad audience across the former Yugoslavia and the wider region.
He began his professional music career in 1975 with the label Diskoton, releasing the single "Od mene je ljubav jača" ("Love Is Stronger Than Me"). Soon after, he moved to Serbia and started working with the Diskos record label. His major breakthrough came in 1980 with the album Voli me danas više nego juče ("Love Me More Today Than Yesterday"), which featured the massive hit "Ne može nam niko ništa" ("No One Can Touch Us")—one of the most iconic songs in Balkan pop-folk music.
Most of his biggest hits were written by composer Novica Urošević, with whom he had a close working relationship between 1979 and 1997. Alongside Branimir Đokić’s orchestra, he recorded over five albums in the early years of his career, including Ne može nam niko ništa, Dajte mi da živim, and Živela ljubav.
Mirić is known for energetic live performances and direct engagement with his audience. He regularly performs at summer festivals across the former Yugoslavia and is especially popular among the diaspora—particularly in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, where he remains a sought-after performer.
