Max Pezzali (full name Massimo Pezzali) is an Italian singer, songwriter, and musician, born on November 14, 1967, in Pavia, Italy. He is best known as the founding member and main songwriter of the band 883, one of the most successful Italian pop-rock groups of the 1990s.
With 883, he rose to fame with hits such as Hanno ucciso l’Uomo Ragno, Come mai, and Nord Sud Ovest Est, which defined a generation of Italian listeners. After the band’s breakup, Max Pezzali embarked on a successful solo career, maintaining his signature style — melodic pop-rock infused with nostalgia, humor, and stories from everyday life. Today, he is regarded as one of the most popular and influential figures in Italian popular music.
