Internationally acclaimed clarinettist Mate Bekavac and his fellow musicians will perform at the Libertas cultural venue on 14 October.
Bekavac is a versatile musician and recipient of the Prešeren Fund Award and the Austrian Ministry of Science and Art’s Würdigungspreis. He has also won some of the world’s most prestigious music competitions. Rather than seeing himself solely as an interpreter of music, he shapes his performances into personal musical experiences that create a close connection with the audience.
He has brought together like-minded, internationally recognised Slovenian musicians to form a new ensemble, FB BANDO. Through music, the group explores pressing social issues, including the horrors of war and climate change. Its name and approach set it apart from conventional concert performance in Slovenia. With bold, fresh interpretations, the ensemble brings new life to familiar works. They will be joined by Irish violinist Mairéad Hickey, one of today’s leading performers, as concertmaster.
The concert will take place on 14 October at 7:00 pm in the Main Hall.
