On Friday, 16 October, the main hall of the Libertas Cultural Hub in Koper will welcome the queen of Slovenian rap – Masayah!
The rapper from Ankaran, who has shaken up the Slovenian hip-hop scene with her directness, authenticity and outstanding stage presence, will also present her new album, Lava. She is coming to the main stage at Libertas with musicians and dancers and her biggest stage production to date, which premiered to great acclaim at a sold-out Kino Šiška this spring.
Masayah, whose real name is Mia Puhar Rodin, first attracted attention with the track Pusto, while the song Ni panike propelled her into the Slovenian music spotlight. The 25-year-old rapper has already won three prestigious Slovenian music awards, the Zlata piščal awards, for her debut album Zavedno (2023): Newcomer of the Year, Song of the Year and Album of the Year.
This spring, she released her second studio album, Lava. It features 13 tracks in which she candidly explores personal themes such as embracing differences, suppressed emotions and social pressure. “When you keep emotions bottled up for too long, sooner or later, something has to erupt. So let it erupt, burn and flow,” Masayah told the Slovenian media upon the album’s release, once again proving that she is one of the most exciting Slovenian music artists of her generation.
