The 31st edition of the No Borders Music Festival continues to unveil its programme, announcing a new featured artist: pianist and composer Ludovico Einaudi, who will perform a solo piano concert on Sunday, 19 July at 2:00 PM at the scenic Fusine Lakes.
Widely regarded as one of the most influential and widely listened to contemporary musicians in the world, Einaudi will present his music in the breathtaking natural setting of the Julian Alps, near Tarvisio. For more than thirty years, the festival has transformed landscapes of extraordinary beauty into unique open air concert venues at the crossroads of Italy, Austria and Slovenia.
Born in Turin in 1955, Einaudi studied at the Turin Conservatory before continuing his training at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan, where he worked with Luciano Berio. He later refined his compositional approach under the guidance of leading figures in contemporary music, including Karlheinz Stockhausen. After initially composing for theatre, ballet and film, his distinctive piano language gained worldwide recognition through now iconic albums such as Le Onde, I Giorni, Divenire and Elements.
Over the course of his career, he has also written numerous film and television scores, including those for The Intouchables, Samba and The Water Diviner, helping to make his music instantly recognisable and widely appreciated across the globe.
In recent years, the composer has developed large scale artistic projects such as the seven album cycle Seven Days Walking, as well as the more recent solo work Underwater. His latest album, The Summer Portraits, debuted at number one on the UK Classical Album Chart.
Einaudi’s appearance at the No Borders Music Festival represents a natural meeting between music and landscape, offering an immersive experience in which solo piano enters into dialogue with nature, reflecting the spirit that has always defined the festival.
