Joe Satriani (born July 15, 1956, in Westbury, NY) is a legendary American guitarist, composer, and songwriter, celebrated as the best-selling instrumental rock guitarist of all time—with over 10 million albums sold and 15 Grammy nominations. A pioneer both as a performer and educator, he taught guitar to future icons like Steve Vai, Kirk Hammett, and Larry LaLonde before launching his solo career in the mid‑1980s.
Satriani rose to prominence with early classics like Not of This Earth (1986) and Surfing with the Alien (1987), the latter becoming platinum-certified and establishing his reputation with tracks like “Satch Boogie” and “Always with Me, Always with You”.
He continues to release critically acclaimed instrumental albums, most recently The Elephants of Mars (2022), which earned praise for its imaginative approach and ranked among the year’s best guitar records. His 2020 record Shapeshifting showcased versatility across rock and blues.
In 2025, Satriani co‑founded the SATCHVAI Band with Steve Vai, embarking on the “Surfing with the Hydra Tour” across Europe and the UK from June to July, including festival highlights like Hellfest. This builds on the momentum from the G3 Reunion Live tour featuring Eric Johnson, captured on the upcoming live album G3 Reunion Live (out January 31, 2025).
Back in the US, Satriani is also part of “The Best of All Worlds” Vegas residency alongside Sammy Hagar, Michael Anthony, and drummer Kenny Aronoff from April to May 2025. Upcoming European dates include summer concerts in Turkey, Greece, Serbia, and Croatia, with Croatia shows already sold out.
