Jadranka Jovanović (born January 8, 1958, in Belgrade) is one of the most prominent Serbian opera singers and artists, whose exceptional mezzo-soprano voice has left a lasting mark on both the national and international opera scene. She graduated from the Faculty of Music Arts in Belgrade, where she studied solo singing and music theory. Her career began at the National Theatre in Belgrade, where she impressed audiences as Rosina in Rossini’s The Barber of Seville, quickly establishing herself as an interpreter of major operatic roles.
Her vocal power, musicality, and stage presence opened the doors to numerous European opera houses. She achieved international acclaim with performances at La Scala in Milan, where she sang under the baton of renowned conductors such as Claudio Abbado and Riccardo Muti. Her artistic journey has taken her to stages across Italy, Germany, Austria, France, Mexico, the USA, China, and Russia. Throughout her career, she has performed more than 70 operatic roles, particularly in the works of Verdi, Rossini, Donizetti, and Tchaikovsky, ranking her among the most successful opera singers from Serbia.
Beyond the classical repertoire, she has also collaborated across musical genres—most notably with the rock band Bajaga i Instruktori on the project Četiri godišnja doba (The Four Seasons), where her operatic voice added a distinctive tone to a modern rock narrative. She is also known for her contribution to preserving high artistic standards in Serbia—as a performer, educator, and cultural ambassador.
For decades, Jadranka Jovanović has remained dedicated to artistic integrity and expressive depth. Her voice is now considered a symbol of devotion, power, and timeless operatic expression.
