The Ice Hockey Federation of Slovenia (HZS) is the governing sports organization for ice hockey in Slovenia. It was established in 1992, the same year it became a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF).
HZS is responsible for the development and promotion of ice hockey in Slovenia and organizes both domestic and international competitions. Under its umbrella operate Slovenia’s national ice hockey teams across various age categories, including the men's senior team (Risi – "The Lynx"), the women's senior team (Risinje – "The Lionesses"), as well as the U20 and U18 junior teams.
At the club level, HZS organizes the National Championship, the Slovenian Cup, and participates in international leagues such as the Alps Hockey League (AHL) and the International Hockey League (IHL). Among the most successful Slovenian clubs are HK Olimpija Ljubljana and HDD Sij Acroni Jesenice, both of which regularly compete in international tournaments.
The Slovenian men's national team has participated in numerous World Championships, including seven appearances in the top-tier Group A, and has competed twice at the Winter Olympics (Sochi 2014 and PyeongChang 2018), achieving a historic quarterfinal appearance in Sochi.
