Gossip is an American indie rock band formed in 1999 in Olympia, Washington. The band comprises vocalist Beth Ditto, guitarist Nathan "Brace Paine" Howdeshell, and drummer Hannah Blilie. They rose to prominence with their 2006 album Standing in the Way of Control, featuring the title track known for its energetic blend of punk rock and dance rhythms, and lyrics advocating for LGBTQ+ rights.
Following the success of Music for Men (2009), which included the hit Heavy Cross, Gossip gained international recognition. Their 2012 album A Joyful Noise showcased a shift towards a more pop-oriented sound. The band disbanded in 2016 as Beth Ditto pursued a solo career and fashion design.
In 2023, Gossip reunited and released the album Real Power in March 2024, produced by Rick Rubin. Recorded between 2019 and 2023, the album explores themes of love, loss, and personal growth, incorporating elements of disco and pop . The band supported the album with a tour across Europe and North America, including a performance at the Glastonbury Festival.
