32nd GHD “I Feel Slovenia” Ilirska Bistrica 2026
Get ready for a top-class weekend full of adrenaline and speed! On the last weekend of August, from 29 to 30 August 2026, the peaceful, picturesque region of southwestern Slovenia, between Ilirska Bistrica and Šembije, will transform into a motorsport battleground where speed and power will reign. Organized by the national Motorsport Federation of Slovenia AŠ SLO, the legendary hill climb race in Ilirska Bistrica returns in its 2026 edition, strengthening its position as the crown jewel of European hill climb racing.
This is not just a race; it is a high-stakes arena where multiple top-tier championships meet. The event serves as a key round of the prestigious FIA European Hill Climb Championship for both modern and historic race cars – the FIA European Hill Climb Championship and FIA Historic Hill Climb Championship – attracting the very best drivers from across Europe. At the same time, intense battles unfold on the asphalt for the Slovenian National Championship for modern and historic vehicles, as well as national championships of neighbouring countries such as Austria and Croatia.
The legendary over 5-kilometre-long course, stretching from Ilirska Bistrica towards Šembije, challenges competitors with elevation changes and demanding corners. This winding asphalt road with complex technical turns, hairpins, and fast chicanes requires absolute precision from more than 200 top drivers, who push their cars to the limits of performance and speed.
From state-of-the-art ultra-light prototypes and formula cars to nostalgic historic classics – the variety of competing vehicles is unmatched and truly worth seeing.
Experience the action up close
Spectators are invited right into the heart of the action. You can position yourself at safe viewing points along the course with panoramic views or walk through the fully open paddock, where you can see the beautiful race cars up close and watch the mechanics at work.
On Saturday, 29 August, official practice runs take place, while Sunday, 30 August, brings the competitive race with two timed runs. There will also be food and beverage offerings and various attractions for all ages and tastes. A shuttle bus will run along the course before each run, taking spectators to their favourite corner to watch the race. The event is also a great family outing, as children under 12 have free entry!
