Garbage

Garbage is an American alternative rock band formed in 1994 in Madison, Wisconsin. The group consists of Shirley Manson (vocals), Butch Vig, Steve Marker, and Duke Erikson. They are known for their distinctive blend of alternative rock, electronic music, trip-hop, and pop, as well as for Manson’s charismatic presence and sharp, introspective lyrics.

The band rose to international fame with their self-titled debut Garbage (1995), featuring hits like Stupid Girl and Only Happy When It Rains. This success continued with albums such as Version 2.0 (1998) and Beautiful Garbage (2001), which cemented their status as one of the defining alternative acts of the 1990s. Known for their innovative production and strong visual identity, Garbage have remained creatively active with later releases including Not Your Kind of People (2012), No Gods No Masters (2021), and Let All That We Imagine Be the Light (2024), continuing to combine bold sound with socially and politically engaged themes.
