Coldplay are a British rock band formed in 1996 by Chris Martin (Vocals) and Jonny Buckland (guitar) at University College London under the name Pectoralz. The name changed every time someone joined the band, therefore as Guy Berryman (bass) joined the band, they changed their name to Starfish. After Will Champion (drums, backing vocals, multi-instrumentalist) joined the band, they changed their name to “Coldplay” in 1998. “Yellow” in 2000, achieved worldwide fame, followed by their debut album “Parachutes”.
The band has won a number of music awards throughout their career. In December 2009, Rolling Stone readers voted the group the fourth best artist of the 2000s. To date, Colplay has sold over 60 million records worldwide.
