Adele Laurie Blue Adkins, known simply as Adele, is a British singer and songwriter, born on May 5, 1988, in Tottenham, London. With her remarkable mezzo-soprano voice and emotionally charged lyrics, she has become one of the most recognizable and successful musicians of modern times. After graduating from the BRIT School, she signed a recording contract with XL Recordings in 2006. Her debut album, 19 (2008), gained widespread attention with the single "Chasing Pavements" and earned her a Grammy Award for Best New Artist. In 2011, she released 21, which became the best-selling album of the 21st century, featuring hits like "Rolling in the Deep" and "Someone Like You". This was followed by 25 (2015) and 30 (2021), both achieving tremendous commercial success. Adele has received numerous accolades, including 16 Grammy Awards, 12 Brit Awards, an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, and an Emmy.
