Event details

After the successful 2016 album Reset, which included the international synth pop hit “Saviour of Love”, Slovenian band Torul is returning in May with the new, heavily anticipated album Hikikomori, released via Infacted Recordings. This time around, the band’s recognisable sound is enhanced by a bass guitar and the vocals of the band’s founder, Torulsson. And local trip hop/art pop duo Bombyx Lori will warm us up with their own new album.

Out of Torulsson’s solo beginnings more than 15 years ago, synth pop band Torul gradually grew into an internationally established trio that regularly performs abroad and is especially popular in Germany. The melodic blend of dark-tinged gothic atmosphere, rock energy and various electronic derivatives also convinced the legendary British band Mesh, which took Torul along on tour in 2013. Since then, the band has changed singers and played numerous clubs and festivals around Europe, including the famed Wave-Gotik-Treffen in Leipzig, Mera Luna and Amfi.

In May, Torul will debut their new album Hikikomori, the successor to the acclaimed Reset from 2016. The guys say that the album “has a rather different sound than previous ones, even though the style is recognisable. The songs feature fewer guitars, but add a bass guitar. The new release also features a significant amount of Torulsson’s vocals, which is also new.” The album also includes the band’s first song in Slovenian. We’ll hear what it sounds like live soon in Šiška.

The duo Bombyx Lori build their style on classical music heritage. Both Alenja Pivko Kneževič and Simon Penšek are classically trained extra-terrestrials, the roots of which can be felt through the immersive variety of genres which they wrapped into trip hop and art pop. They’ll be performing songs from their freshly released debut Little Gifts from the Universe.
