THE BLACK LIPS + Jinho Jinza - Tickets
The provocatively theatrical rocknrollers Black Lips, who went from DIY garage beginnings to pioneers of so-called flower punk, are finally coming to Slovenia. The band is famed for wild live shows and has released eight albums so far, with 2017’s Satan’s Graffiti or God’s Art?, produced by Sean Lennon and featuring a guest appearance by Yoko Ono, showcasing them at their most vital.
Black Lips are known as a band that you never know what you’re going to get with – the one constant among the many stories of onstage excess is their energetic, dirty and debauched guitar sound. Their discography touches on a bunch of genres and their derivatives – garage rock ‘n’ roll, psychedelia, punk, indie, psychobilly, country and more –, with this limitless creativity peaking with the 2017 album Satan’s Graffiti or God’s Art?, which finds them “at their most daring, exploratory and downright vital”, according to The Quietus.
In an age of swiftly shifting trends, the band is a constant on the independent rock scene, tirelessly carving out its own path. The latter has led them all over the world, from the United Arab Emirates to India, which they even fled in fear of arrest, and will bring them to Šiška in June for a wild start to the summer.
The members of Jinho Jinza each boast more than 20 zears of musical experience in bands such as Automassage, Manul and Psycho-Path. The new group’s sound is based on classic blues rhythms and structures, enhanced by contemporary music practices in the domain of noisy rock. Their debut album TODAY – ’cause the devil told me so was released last year viw God Bless This Mess, and we last saw them live at this year’s Tresk Festival.
