Cankarjev dom is the largest cultural and congress center in Slovenia, attracting approximately half a million visitors each year—art enthusiasts, congress event participants, and social gathering attendees. Between 1981 and 2024, nearly twenty million people have attended its events. Each year, around eighteen thousand different performers take the stage at Cankarjev dom, including numerous top-tier artists recognized on a global scale.
Cultural, artistic, and scientific creation are considered fundamental conditions for the development of society and the enrichment of an individual's spiritual life. Cankarjev dom functions as a cultural and congress hub where various events are presented, produced, co-produced, organized, and mediated—from cultural and artistic performances to congress events, fairs, protocol meetings, exhibitions, and festivals. Since culture holds a central place in its activities, more than two-thirds of the available time slots in its halls are dedicated to cultural and artistic content. The program promotes quality of life, strengthens and develops cultural and national identity, and fosters young generations in the spirit of cultural and artistic expression.
In realizing contemporary cultural and artistic projects, Cankarjev dom collaborates with related institutions in Slovenia and abroad, contributing to the openness of the capital city to international cultural and scientific exchange. As a historically, touristically, and culturally fascinating city, Ljubljana is positioned among the key European centers for culture and congress activities.
