About - Body Count
Body Count is an American metal band from Los Angeles, founded in the early 1990s by legendary rapper and actor Ice-T alongside guitarist Ernie C. Their fusion of aggressive thrash metal and hard-hitting rap lyrics was groundbreaking at the time, delivering politically charged messages that resonated far beyond typical genre boundaries. Their self-titled debut album "Body Count" (1992) sparked national controversy, particularly due to the song "Cop Killer," which ignited a fierce debate over freedom of speech and censorship in music. Despite the backlash, the band endured and became a symbol of unfiltered social commentary within the metal community. After a period of relative quiet, they made a powerful comeback in the 2010s with albums like "Manslaughter" (2014) and "Carnivore" (2020), both critically acclaimed and genre-pushing releases. Their resurgence was solidified when they won a Grammy Award in 2021 for Best Metal Performance with the track "Bum-Rush."
