Six Feet Under is an American death metal band formed in 1993 in Tampa, Florida. Originally started as a side project by vocalist Chris Barnes and guitarist Allen West, it soon became Barnes’s main focus after leaving his previous band. The group gained recognition for its raw, heavy sound, blending traditional death metal with groovy rhythms and deep guttural vocals.
Their debut album Haunted established their signature style and secured their place on the metal scene. Over the years, despite numerous lineup changes, the band has remained consistent, releasing fourteen studio albums and building a loyal global fan base. Known for dark themes of death and brutality, Six Feet Under stands as one of the longest-running and most recognizable bands in American death metal.
