Lionel Richie

Lionel Richie is an iconic American singer, songwriter, producer, and TV personality, born on June 20, 1949, in Tuskegee, Alabama. He first gained fame as co-lead vocalist and songwriter for the Commodores, penning hits like “Easy,” “Three Times a Lady,” and “Still.” In 1982, Richie launched a hugely successful solo career. His debut single “Truly” topped the Billboard chart and earned him a Grammy for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance. His second album, Can’t Slow Down (1983), sold over 20 million copies globally and won Album of the Year at the 1985 Grammys. Beyond music, Richie co-wrote “We Are the World” with Michael Jackson, a humanitarian anthem that sold over 20 million copies, and his duet “Say You, Say Me” from the film White Nights won both an Academy Award and a Golden Globe.
