Artist description

Zele Lipovaca is the creator and founder of the hard rock, heavy metal band “Divlje jagode”.

The first line-up, including Adonis, Tony, Muc, Nihad and Zele, gave out the first album in the end of 1978 with songs like “Jedina moja” and “Krivo je more”.

Zele and the new line-up of “Divlje jagode” finished recording their second album “Stakleni hotel” on which figure great hits such as “Autostop” and “Kako si topla mila” and gained a great commercial success.

The real turn-around in their career came with the third album “Motori” which was recorded by Teo Werdin.

Two more albums are recorded: “Vatra” and “Čarobnjaci”. Divlje jagode achieve an, up to that moment, unseen success because of their professional production and quality. At that time all their concerts would be sold out.

After one great concert, Zele Lipovaca and Goef Hunnington, the owner of the record label “Logo Records” make an exclusive contract.

It was the first big record contract in Yugoslavia. They became a British band called “Wild Strawberries”. They had their first big English tour, and the last concert was held at the legendary London club “Marquee”.

The fifth member came while they were on tour: the keyboards player Don Airey from “Rainbow”, “Whitesnake”, “Colosseum II” and Cozy Powell Band.

In the last couple of years, Zele Lipovaca has been living and working in Zagreb just like before when he brought together the first line-up of “Divlje jagode”. During 2002 he created a new “Divlje jagode” band with the album “Od neba do neba”.
